Interning in Ireland will enhance your resume and expose you to the international business world. And, of course, you will have an incredible opportunity to travel and explore all that Ireland has to offer!

We will match your career objectives with the needs of multinational organizations in Dublin. We work with a network of companies that will provide you with practical work experience focusing on your field of study. Placements are made in many industries including but not limited to: accounting and finance, architecture, office administration, computers & IT, civil engineering, fashion, insurance, international trade, law, media, graphic design, hotel & catering, freight/transportation, public relations, marketing, event management, travel/tourism, logistics, and much more. Both general and specialized placements can be made.

Non-European nationalities can work under a full-time academic/internship program; or part-time (up to 20 hours/week) if you are: a) a full-time student at a university or b) a recent graduate. Please contact a CE coordinator to learn more details about your visa requirements. US & Canadian students can work on a blue card work visa, and Japanese and some other nationalities may qualify on a Work and Travel visa.

Upon receipt of your application, we will conduct a phone interview to discuss your skills and needs. We will then forward your information to available and appropriate companies in Ireland.

  • Guaranteed Internship Offer Prior to Departure
    Cultural Embrace
     guarantees an internship offer that matches your requested preferences. Due to visa regulations, all positions are unpaid.  However, some companies may offer a bonus for your efforts. 
  • Private Accommodations
    Cultural Embrace
     will pre-arrange a carefully selected local host family or private room in a shared residence prior to your arrival in Ireland.  Accommodations are included in the program fee.  If you wish, we can also book alternate accommodations, such as hostels or meal plans or shared accommodations.
  • Visa Assistance
    Cultural Embrace
    will arrange your work permit for you, provided that you are a US or Canadian citizen (other nationalities must arrange their own work permit). The fee to receive your work permit is NOT included in your program fee. Although we submit the information for your work permit/visa, we have no control nor the ability to guarantee government issuance and/or visa availability. 
  • Arrival Orientation
    You will receive pertinent information regarding local transportation, banking, and safety. You will also receive tips on travel, communications, and social and outdoor activities. Finally, you will be familiarized with the code of conduct and expectations for your internship.
  • Arrival Assistance 
    Detailed instructions on how to transfer from the airport to your work site will be provided. An optional airport pick-up and transfer is available for a fee.
  • Travel Insurance:  Basic Major Medical Coverage 
    Our program includes basic medical coverage. Cultural Embrace highly recommends additional travel insurance.
  • Cultural Embrace Kit
    Useful tips, advice, and information to prepare you for the amazing adventure of living and working abroad.
  • Full-time Representation
    Cultural Embrace provides representation in the United States and Ireland prior to, during, and after your placement. A local supervisor from your company will be assigned to advise and monitor your internship and serve as a mentor. 

 

Program Requirements

  • You must be at least 18 years of age
  • For US passport-holding citizens: (minimum 1 month and maximum 3 months, 4 months with special work permit)
    You must be either a full-time enrolled student, enrolled and deferred student, or a recent graduate.  Please contact your Programs Coordinator for more information.
  • For non-U.S. and non-Canadian passport holding citizens: if you are able to obtain your own work permit or working holiday visa, we can pre-arrange your placement and accommodations. Unfortunately, we cannot assist those who are unable to acquire work permits for the UK
  • Minimum duration is 4 weeks and maximum is 3 months. Please note most companies prefer to accept applicants with a longer time commitment.
  • You must have access to a minimum of US$1000. This minimum amount does not have to be entirely in cash - traveler’s checks, ATM, and debit/credit cards may also be presented. You are required to show that you have immediate access to funds via bank accounts or parental help

How to Apply

1. Obtain the Intern Abroad Application Forms & Procedures documents in one of three ways:

(a) Download the forms:  Intern Application (PDF).   Intern in Ireland Program Details and FAQ (PDF).

 (b) Fill out an online application request form and the forms will be e-mailed to you within 2-3 days.

(c) Call Cultural Embrace at 1-512-469-9089 or 1-888-214-8570 (US toll-free) to have the forms mailed to you in 7-10 days.

2. Read the instructions carefully and complete all forms.

3. Submit your completed application packet to:

 Completed packet should include:

  • Intern Program Application
  • Signed Work/Intern Agreement
  • Copy of your passport (information page only)
  • University/College transcript (official please)
  • Copies of diploma or certificates related to field of interest (if applicable)
  • Resume/CV
  • Cover Letter explaining what you want to do in the UK and why you think you are capable of handling this type of work 
  • Two References: preferably professional and/or character references
  • Doctor’s Certificate verifying that you are in excellent mental and physical health
  • Copy of Police Clearance (obtainable from your community's local police station) 
  • Four 1½" x 2" official passport-size photos, signed on the back
  • One smiling full-length photo of yourself
  • US$200 non-refundable deposit (credited towards your program fee)

*Please note: Due to new immigration regulations, Cultural Embrace will no longer be accepting applications from Americans to any UK program after September 10, 2008.

Upon receipt of your application, a Cultural Embrace coordinator will contact you for a 20-30 minute phone interview. Once we accept you in to our program, you will receive an invoice for the remainder of your program fee. In order for us to contact our local partners to start your placement process, we require at least 50% of your program.

We recommend submitting your application and program fee at least 16-20 weeks prior to your desired start date in order for us to organize and arrange your internship.

*Cultural Embrace requires an expedited application fee for those applying 16 weeks or less before the desired date of departure. Applications received 12-16 weeks prior to desired departure date will be charged $150. Applications received fewer than 12 weeks before the desired departure date will be charged $250.
