2008 Junior Summer Program Abroad - SPAIN

Cultural Embrace offers an incredible way for juniors to spend a summer abroad. Designed for students to gain personal, cultural, communication, social and leadership skills, and to embrace various cultures by immersing themselves in the local communities they are visiting. Our summer programs offer students the chance to learn a foreign language, discover new cultural activities, make friends from all around the world, engage in service learning projects, and truly experience the local culture in an unique, international environment.

Students will be with other participants from the same age-group, that share their same interests. Educational, cultural, and recreational activities will be prepared on a daily basis, as well as regular sight-seeing excursions and service projects. Meals and housing will be included in safe, conveniently located home-stays or on-site accommodations. Special dietary diets and meals can be prepared on request.

These activities allow students to understand in more detail Spain’s rich, varied culture and rooted traditions. This is why we organize a minimum of one full-day and two half-day excursions for every two-week summer period. These excursions are deisnged to introduce the participants to the great diversity of Spanish culture, food, and geography. Sample excursions are as follows:

Marbella Full-day trips: Seville, Granada, Tarifa, or Ronda  Half-day trips: Puerto Banus, Jijas, Sierra de las Nieves, city tours of Marbella

Salamanca Full-day trips: Avila, Segovia, Portugal, Ciudad Rodrigo, La Alberca and Albade Tormes  Half-day trips: local sites of cultural & historical interests in Salamanca such as the cathedral, the Palacio and Casa de las Conchas

During the week, activities are held in the afternoon or in the evening. The scheduling of activities is designed to ensure that the students learn and participate in as many sports, workshops, and recreational activities as possible. The activities are always appropriate for each age level. Sample activities include:
