Our Work in New Zealand program is designed to provide you with a smooth arrival, orientation, and accommodation when you land. Job placements range from short and long term work in a variety of industries. Common job placements consist of: manual/labor work, office temp/administrative, hospitality/food & beverage, seasonal farm work, IT support jobs and much more.

Working holidaymakers from the USA, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Canada, Belgium, Chile, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Malta, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Malta, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Uruguay can apply for New Zealand work visas and permits on-line. The process is simple and self-explanatory but if you need any assistance feel free to contact us at anytime.

As part of our job referral service we will assist you with opening a local bank account, applying for your IRD Numbers (NZ tax numbers), job and housing assistance and preparing for interviews with employers. Jobs are available throughout New Zealand, particularly in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch since they are more populated and have the biggest supply of jobs.

Cultural Embrace 
partners with a local job recruitment center that averages 60-120 jobs listings (depending on the season). Currently, it is possible to find work in both skilled and unskilled fields.  Cultural Embrace Offers:

  • Job Placement Service
    You will have up to 12 months of offers and access to our job center. Organize and confirm jobs through our local representatives, on-line job databank, and local listings.
  • Compensation
    While each position offers a different salary, earning minimum wage is NZD11.25 (~US$8.5) per hour, but the average salary is ~NZD$15.
  • Housing Assistance
    Shared housing will be included for your first two nights in Auckland. Cultural Embrace offers in-country assistance to help you find a clean, safe and affordable room. Short-term housing is relatively easy to find in NZ. Hostels, rental flats and homes are available with weekly rent.    Your salary should be enough to cover your basic living expenses while abroad. 
  • Arrival Assistance and Jet-Lag Recovery Package
    You will receive one voucher good for free transfer to your hostel.  Hop off the plane and hop on the designated shuttle and you will arrive at your pre-booked accommodations free of charge and stress. 
  • "Welcome to New Zealand!" Orientation
     
    An orientation will inform you of New Zealand’s laws, safety, work, social, and travel customs. Plus, assistance in setting up a bank account, tax file number, and housing/transportation (if applicable).
  • In-Country Assistance
    Personal postal mail and fax services are included, plus free luggage storage for the first week of your stay, and 24/7 toll-free emergency assistance. 
  • Visa Assistance
    Cultural Embrace
    will assist you with information to obtain a visa from New Zealand's immigration, but we have no control nor the ability to guarantee government issuance and/or visa availability.
    -For Working Holiday Visa Citizens: Citizens of the USA, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Canada, Belgium, Chile, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Malta, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Malta, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Uruguay can stay up to 1 year.
  • Travel Insurance Assistance
    Cultural Embrace highly recommends travel insurance and offers reduced rates on basic and comprehensive insurance plans.

    Useful tips, advice, and information to prepare you for the amazing adventure of living and working abroad.
  • Full-time Representation
    Cultural Embrace provides representation in the United States and New Zealand prior to, during, and after your placement.

 


 

Program Requirements

  • You must be 18-30 years of age (due to visa regulations)
  • You must have recent experience in the field in which you wish to work (e.g. course work, employment experience, training courses)
  • You must have access to a minimum of NZD4200 while in New Zealand. This minimum amount does not have to be entirely in cash - traveler’s checks, ATM, and debit/credit cards may also be presented. You are required to show that you have immediate access to funds via bank accounts or parental help (this is for visa purposes)

How to Apply

1. Obtain the Work Abroad Application Forms & Procedures documents in one of three ways:

(a) Download the forms:  Work Form (PDF).   Work in New Zealand Program Details and FAQ (PDF).  

(b) Fill out an online application request form and the forms will be e-mailed to you within 2-3 days.

(c) Call Cultural Embrace at 1-512-469-9089 or 1-888-214-8570 (US toll-free) to have the forms mailed to you in 7-10 days. 

2. Read the instructions carefully and complete all forms.

3. Submit your completed application packet to:

Completed packet should include:

  • Work Program Application
  • Signed Work  Agreement
  • Copy of your passport (information page only)
  • University/College transcript (official please)
  • Copies of diploma or certificates related to field of interest (if applicable)
  • Resume/CV
  • Cover Letter explaining what you want to do in New Zealand and why you think you are capable of handling this type of work
  • Two References: preferably professional and/or character references
  • Doctor’s Certificate verifying that you are in excellent mental and physical health
  • Copy of Police Clearance (obtainable from your community's local police station) 
  • Four 1½" x 2" official passport-size photos, signed on the back
  • One smiling full-length photo of yourself
  • US$200 non-refundable deposit (credited towards your program fee)

We recommend submitting your application and program fee at least 12-16 weeks prior to your desired start date in order for us to organize and arrange your job placement.
