Cultural Embrace and our French representatives have developed wonderful relationships with companies, non-profits, and NGOs in Paris so you may intern in your preferred field of interest. We will pre-arrange your internship offer and housing before you depart so that you may travel to France with peace of mind. Gain practical work experience and develop your language, professional, social, and interpersonal skills.

Our program is aimed for individuals or groups that have an advanced or high-intermediate level of French. We offer a wide variety of internship placements, including but not limited to:  advertising, computer/IT, sales, marketing, general business, engineering, hospitality, import/export, insurance, finance, education, media, travel/tourism, and sociology. Your schedule and duties will vary based on your employer's needs and your French language and work experience.

The minimum amount of time needed for this program is 8 weeks. Expect to work 30-40 hours per week and a five-day work week. Most internships are unpaid and to the discretion of the company to offer some sort of bonus, reward, or benefit to their intern(s).

  • Guaranteed Internship in your Field of Interest

Cultural Embrace guarantees an internship offer that matches your requested preferences as long as your language skills meet an upper-intermediate level. You will work with a C.E. Coordinator that will provide individualized support to help you find a potential employer, and prepare you for an adventure to live and work abroad. Due to visa regulations, all positions are unpaid, however, some companies may offer a bonus, living allowance, or other type of perks for your efforts.

  • Accommodations

Cultural Embrace pre-arranges and includes housing in a private studio inside or in the outskirts of Paris, France. Other housing options, such as: host family, or other student residencies both private or shared rooms, or hotels, may be pre-arranged depending on the location, for an additional cost.

  •  Visa Assistance

EU citizens: no visa is required for citizens of the European Union. Non EU citizens: visa required varies with each nationality. If you are going to intern longer than 90 days, you will need to obtain a student visa. In order to receive a student visa, you must be enrolled in a course with nominal hours to be student status. Cultural Embrace can enroll you with a reputable language school that will meet the visa regulations. Please contact the French Embassy or Consulate in your country to check details, or ask your CE coordinator. Please note that any visa and course fees are the responsibility of the applicant. And, while we can assist you during the process, ultimately it is your responsibility to ensure that you have obtained the appropriate visa for your work experience. Cultural Embrace has no control over the visa process and cannot guarantee that your visa application will be accepted.

  • Optional Language Lessons

Cultural Embrace is able to enroll you with optional French language lessons. Many interns opt to take a few weeks of classes prior to their internship to brush up on their language skills and get acquainted with the accent. If you wish to intern for 3+ months, non-EU nationalities will be required to take nominal hours of a local course to obtain a student visa. Please see below for more detailed information about our language lessons options.

  • Arrival Assistance

Cultural Embrace will provide you with detailed public transportation directions, or optional private airport pick-up is available for approximately 45 Euros.

  • International Traveler’s Insurance with Basic Major Medical Coverage

Our policy provides basic medical coverage. Additional policies and premium plans are avail-able at extra cost.

  • Cultural Embrace “Culture Kit”

Before your departure, we will send you a cultural kit that is filled with useful tips, advice, information, and your insurance card to prepare you for your amazing adventure of living and working abroad.

  • Full-time Representation

Cultural Embrace provides English-speaking representation in the United States and France prior to, during, and after your placement.

Program Requirements

France Intern

  • You must be 18+ 
  • You must have high-intermediate or advanced French language skill (French lessons available)
  • You must have previous work experience or past coursework in internship field
  • You must be open to foreign cultures and living abroad
  • You must have a high level of responsibility
  • You must be dedicated to the full term of commitment 
  • Provide a French resume/CV and French cover letter

Optional Language Class Descriptions:

Paris- The school is centrally located close to the Champs-Elysées and the Eiffel Tower. Class size is 8-12 students. Student activities offered include guided tours three times a week (to museums, monuments, quarters, etc.), cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, and monthly excursions; some activities are at extra cost. For your first day of class, you will arrive Mon-day morning at 8am to take your placement test.

Standard Course 20 group classes per week is an ideal choice for people who want to improve their knowledge of French language and want to experience France at the same time. Understand and use French in real life situations, express yourself due to a teaching method based upon communication, authentic teaching material, and weekly assessments of your progress. *This option is included in the program fee with optional extensions available.

How to Apply

1. Obtain the Intern Abroad Application Forms & Procedures documents in one of three ways:

(a) Download the forms:  Intern Application (pdf).  Intern in France Program Details and FAQ (pdf).

(b) Fill out an online application request form and the forms will be e-mailed to you within 2-3 days.

(c) Call Cultural Embrace at 1-512-469-9089 or Skype: Cultural.Embrace to have the forms mailed to you within 4-5 days. 

2. Read the instructions carefully and complete all forms.

3. Submit your completed application packet to:

Completed packet should include:

  • Intern Program Application
  • Signed Work/Intern Agreement
  • Copy of your passport (information page only)
  • University/College transcript
  • Copies of diploma or certificates related to field of interest (if applicable)
  • Resume/CV (English and French)
  • Cover Letter in French and English describing your field of work and why you want to pursue an internship
  • Proof of French skill level
  • Two References: preferably professional and/or character references
  • Doctor’s note verifying that you are in excellent mental and physical health
  • Copy of Police Clearance (obtainable from your community's local police station) 
  • Two 1½" x 2" official passport-size photos, signed on the back
  • One smiling full-length photo of yourself
  • US$250 non-refundable deposit (credited towards your program fee)

Upon receipt of your application, a Cultural Embrace coordinator will contact you for a 20-30 minute phone interview. Once we accept you in to our program, you will receive an invoice for the remainder of your program fee. In order for us to contact our local partners to start your placement process, we require at least 50% of your program.

We recommend submitting your application and program fee at least 16-20 weeks prior to your desired start date in order for us to organize and arrange your internship.

*Cultural Embrace requires an expedited application fee for those applying 16 weeks or less before the desired date of departure. Applications received 12-16 weeks prior to desired departure date will be charged $150. Applications received fewer than 12 weeks before the desired departure date will be charged $250.
